Banana Joe lebt bescheiden, aber glücklich in einem verträumten Urwalddorf. Mit seinem Boot befördert er Bananen zum Verkauf in die Stadt. Eines Tages ist es mit dem beschaulichen Leben vorbei. Der gefürchtete Mafioso Torsillo will den gesamten Bananenhandel der südamerikanischen Republik an sich reißen. Joe wehrt sich nach Leibeskräften dagegen. (ORF)

It's not the same without Hill, but Joe is a nice guy. We've seen the confrontation of the good-hearted yokel with the wild city life many times before, so Banana Joe can't surprise us with anything, but at least we'll have a good time in his presence and enjoy the title track, which has a liveliness that beats almost the whole movie.
