Die Leute aus Adas kleinem Hinterwaldweiler sind vor allem deshalb solch eine verschworene, abgeschottete Gemeinschaft, weil sie bereits seit mehreren Generationen demselben schaurigen Kult huldigen: Jedes mal, wenn der Dorfsonderling im Zustand der Trance eine weitere Tonmaske formt, die mit irgend jemand aus der Gemeinschaft Ähnlichkeit hat, wird demjenigen über einer heiligen Grube die Kehle durchtrennt. Stories from the backwaters in a not very viewer-friendly package. An interesting and original indie movie (the comparison with Lucky McKee in some of the reviews here is not wrong). Jug Face will not make a big splash, but Kinkle shows quite some promise.

The fact of whether there is actually something under this form is probably the biggest problem of the whole film. In fact, it seems that it is just a vulgar horror film, which was shot slightly differently to create the impression that it is more profound than it was intended to be. I quite like this ambivalence, as well as the fact that the author did not go so far as to make it just a mishmash of strange, unrelated scenes, but on the other hand, it is not a work in which these thoughts are easily found. Perhaps also because they don't really need to be there.
