Das mysteriöse Verschwinden der Filmstudenten Heather, Joshua und Michael hat viele Touristen in den kleinen Ort Burkittsville gelockt. Deshalb begeben sich vier wagemutige Jugendliche auf die Spuren ihrer Vorgänger. Sie suchen nach der Hexe von Blair und wollen Kontakt zum Totenreich aufnehmen. Dabei werden sie von Jeff Patterson begleitet, der Touren in die Black Hills organisiert, und ihnen die bedeutendsten Orte der Legende zeigt. Mit einer Kamera ausgerüstet übernachten sie im dunklen Wald und lauern dort übernatürlichen Erscheinungen auf. Als sie am nächsten Morgen in einem völlig zerstörten Lager aufwachen, fehlt ihnen jegliche Erinnerung an die letzten Stunden. Die Aufzeichnungen sollen Licht ins Dunkel bringen. The concept of a genius number one is gone, and a group of anonymous teenagers are heading to the Maryland woods to experience the local atmosphere. Although the film can be thematically interchangeable with any unsuccessful horror nonsense, it earns valuable points precisely because it is not so much a straightforward sequel as a partial homage to the first part. I have such a deep-rooted memory of that one that when the characters start talking about being in the exact places they know from the movie, it works for me. However, it would require a point at the end and not just timidly wink and try to impress. The mythology of the Blair Witch managed to connect well. 50%

This is one of those horrors that is not worth seeing, because their effort is only to make money on people who liked the first movie or maybe even believed in it. But this is definitely not the way to build a myth. It's like the script wasn't really cared about, all the foolishness just piled up and resulted in something that cannot even be considered a meaningful piece. This is not myth-building, this is just empty commerce.
