Gwendolyn ist ein ganz normaler Teenager - rebellisch, frech und genervt von all den Familiengeheimnissen ihrer Verwandten. Mit sechzehn Jahren ändert sich ihr Leben schlagartig. Plötzlich steht sie im London der letzten Jahrhundertwende. Aufgrund eines speziellen Gens hat sie die Gabe, durch die Zeit zu reisen. So stürzt sie sich von einem Abenteuer ins nächste und will schließlich das Geheimnis des roten Rubins lüften. Ausgerechnet Gideon, der arrogante Freund ihrer Cousine Charlotte, wird ihr zur Seite gestellt. Noch weiß Gwendolyn nicht, dass man sich zwischen den Zeiten nicht verlieben sollte. (ORF)

I appreciate that the Germans took a young adult fantasy and actually filmed it. They deserve thanks for their effort. It’s a pity, however, that it ended with the effort and they turned the unique fantasy for young adults into a chick flick for teenagers with a dash of supernatural. Some good moments, some literally deserving of a few slaps. Overall average and I will think hard whether to watch the other installments.
