Tiffany Blechschmid ist unscheinbar, ein bisschen abergläubisch und Single: Und obwohl es in ihrem Feinkostgeschäft selbstgebackene Glückskekse gibt, misstraut sie selbst dem Glück zutiefst. Ist doch bisher jedem Erfolg in ihrem Leben eine Katastrophe gefolgt. Tiffany steht sich einfach immer selbst im Weg. Doch dann zieht Hans Luboschinski, ihr Klavierlehrer aus Kindheitstagen, gegenüber ein und weckt Erinnerungen an alte Zeiten. (ORF)

With Germans, one never quite knows what kind of comedy to expect. The Pursuit of Unhappiness didn’t look exactly great at first glance. But since I came home from work hungry like a wolf and this movie was just starting on HBO, I let it play for a while; and then I ended up finishing it thanks to its short running time. The lead actress who pretends to be younger than she actually is was fairly okay as a pursuer of unhappiness and I even had fun here and there. But here and there, it was also boring, despite the fact that it was wacky in the usual German fashion.
