The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh

Interessant präsentierte Geistergeschichte. Die Geschichte wird eigentlich von den Monologen der namengebenden toten Figur begrenzt, was mir persönlich nicht als die beste Idee erscheint. Ein Großteil des Films beschäftigt sich außerdem pedantisch detailliert mit Innenaufnahmen des Hauses (Türen, Vasen, Statuen), was dazu führt, dass das Tempo wirklich schneckengleich ist. Genau darin liegt wahrscheinlich der größte Knackpunkt, daher werden Hardcore-Fans enttäuscht sein. Für alle anderen könnte es jedoch keine schlechte Wahl sein, schon allein wegen der sorgfältig aufgebauten Atmosphäre und den beunruhigenden Blicken auf Engelstatuen. (30.07.2013)

I can glowingly recommend this film, even though it’s not for everyone (a religious theme, not very good effects and a slow pace). I loved how splendidly old-fashioned, proper and honest it looks. It has the atmosphere of a beautiful old house full of antiques; actually, it also has a pretty nice story, though quite intimate. And most importantly, I was really scared several times. Three and a half rounded up for an impressive feature début. (10.07.2013)
