Am ersten Tag des Einzugs überfährt Kisha aus Versehen Malcolms geliebten Hund „Bushido“. Die Laune ist zwar vorerst getrübt, doch die Vorfreude auf ein Schäferstündchen im ersten gemeinsamen Bett lässt Malcolms Stimmungskurve ziemlich steil nach oben schnellen. Doch schnell erhält Malcolm einen Reality Check, denn Kisha will lieber Schlaf statt Sex, inklusive Schlabber-Look und Pickelcreme und vor allem: nächtlichen Verdauungsstörungen. Und um alles noch schlimmer zu machen, hat Kisha auch keinerlei Lust auf ein privates Sex-Tape mit Malcolms neuer Kamera! Irgendwie hatte sich Malcolm das Zusammenleben anders vorgestellt… Und das war erst der Anfang der Probleme, denn urplötzlich geht es im Hause Johnson nicht mehr mit rechten Dingen zu. Türen bewegen sich ohne fremdes Zutun, Töpfe und Geschirr fliegen durch die Gegend und das Mobiliar bewegt sich auch wie von fremder Hand – alles aufgezeichnet von Malcolms Kamera. (Einhorn-Film)

A real hogwash. At times, I didn’t really get it and then at times, I was bursting with laughter. It’s all purposely filmed with a bad, shaky camera that only shakes when it suits the authors. I may have kept looking at my watch by the end of the movie, but I must say that the hour and a half was worth it in the end.

A Haunted House is not as hopeless as many critics might paint it. Its main problem is that it's more of a black comedy than a horror parody. It's not helped at all by the fact that all the jokes in the film are the first possible reactions anyone would have to the situation, which is why I felt like I was watching an improv show or something like it for the entire duration. Especially given that the funniest scenes had nothing to do with horror at all. That most people would rather see Marlon Wayans picking their cotton after this is their problem.
