Der überdrehte und tyrannische Balduin managt die berühmteste weibliche Tanzgruppe eines Variététheaters, die auf diesem Gebiet eine echte Attraktion ist. Die zwölf schönsten Frauen der Welt zu leiten und zu überwachen ist natürlich ein nicht immer leichtes Unterfangen. Er muss nicht nur über ihre körperliche Verfassung wachen – intensives Sporttraining, eiserne Disziplin, drakonische Diät – sondern auch über ihre moralische Lebensweise. Das Verjagen der Verehrer, die ihm seine Tänzerinnen ausspannen könnten und das Vertreiben der Milliardäre auf Brautschau zwingt Balduin zu strategischen Kraftproben und psychologischen Kunststücken, die ihn manchmal an den Rande des Nervenzusammenbruchs bringen. I would have to betray my principles and beliefs if I gave The Band more than two stars, because I constantly emphasize the importance of the script, and even by the standards of a musical and a light summer comedy for the widest audience, this film has a script that is too simple and naive. However, when I rewatched the comedy after many years, it didn't end in agony and it was a relatively enjoyable moment with an aging comedian who found himself late in life and managed to thrill the crowds with his mimicry and energy. Unfortunately, that's the only thing that carries the film. True, the charm of the dancers and costumes from the late '60s is not completely dismissible either... The film is perhaps interesting in that it was the most serious attempt by Louis de Funès' father to launch his son Olivier's film career. Well, he didn't succeed, and his son soon went in a different direction. The Band is good for a watch on a late evening or a boring rainy afternoon, and it undoubtedly has its value for both older folks and nostalgics. Overall impression: 45%.

Alles tanzt nach meiner Pfeife wird auch bei wiederholtem Anschauen nicht langweilig und zaubert mir jedes Mal ein leichtes Lächeln ins Gesicht, was natürlich (wie immer) ein großes Verdienst von Louis de Funès ist, dessen Rolle des fürsorglichen und etwas verrückten Choreographen, der sich um seine "Babies" kümmert, perfekt ist. Ob es nun die fesselnde Erzählung, die hektische Aufnahme oder das "Diät"-Dinner (und das Wiegen) ist - (nicht nur) diese denkwürdigen Szenen sind immer ein Garant für meine Unterhaltung.

This is one of the few movies that I have never seen before with Louis de Funès. I see that I didn't miss much because, apart from great music, specifically a particular piece, it is not such a great comedy and there are only a few gags that made me laugh. It's pleasing, however, that the duration is quite short.
