Die Studentin Akiko verdient sich in Tokio nebenbei etwas Geld als Callgirl. Ein neuer Kunde ist Herr Takashi, ein ehemaliger Soziologieprofessor. Akiko schläft nach der Begrüßung allerdings sofort in seinem Bett ein. Ohnehin verunsichert durch sein Tun ist der Rentner darüber eher erleichtert, und sein Kümmer - Instinkt wird geweckt. Nach COPIE CONFORME ein weiterer Film des iranischen Regisseurs Abbas Kiarostami im Ausland, wieder geht es um Liebe, um Kommunikation und Diskretion, Sichtbares und Unsichtbares, und trotzdem ist alles auch wieder ganz anders, geheimnisvoller, unverständlicher, zarter. Like Someone in Love is about the Japanese. It also has a great Japanese potential. Everything is classy, gallant, everything is according to the rules, everything has its order. And I really hate this kind of behavior. I mean behavior where the rightness of the situation is more important than personal values, emotions and feelings.
