Die Freundinnen Abby, Lou und Sarah machen einen Camping-Ausflug auf eine scheinbar unbewohnte kleine Insel. Dort treffen sie unerwartet auf drei Kriegsveteranen, die jagen wollen. Nach einer anfänglich netten Kennenlern-Runde werden die Kerle zudringlich und das Mädels-Trio gerät schließlich in Lebensgefahr. (TELE 5)

A feminist take on Deliverance. First of all, it’s a character-based drama (it “mandatorily” becomes a hixploitation thriller by the middle), and the first twenty minutes, when the pieces are placed on the chessboard, promise more than the relatively brief “twists” manage to deliver. But Black Rock is by no means a bad film, especially when compared to other representatives of the ailing hixploitation genre, which no longer pretend to have any ambitions.
