Es ist 22 Jahre später, und Norman Bates kehrt in das gruselige Bates-Motel zurück. Als geheilt ist Norman aus der Psychiatrie entlassen worden, doch die Schatten liegen weiterhin über diesem unrühmlichen Haus. Schon bei seiner Ankunft holt ihn die Vergangenheit ein: Norman hört die Stimme seiner Mutter und findet Notizzettel, die von ihr unterschrieben worden sind.
