"The Playboy Club" is about a time when it was all about social mores and where a entrepreneur saw the potential into something and created an empire that has spanned the world and continues to grow. The show focuses in the 1960's at the legendary Playboy Club in Chicago. This was the most sought-after status symbol anyone could get and the epitome of beauty and service. Nick Dalton (Eddie Cibrian), a top attorney tries his luck at the Playboy Club and with mysterious ties to the mob, Nick puts himself out there and helps Maureen (Amber Heard), a new bunny to the club who kills the leader of the Bianchi crime family accidentally. Englisch The first episode is quite a disappointment. It lacks energy, and the acting performances are far from dazzling. Cibrian is no Jon Hamm, although the (futile) effort to achieve the caliber of Mad Man is palpable, and I don't think Amber Heard is suited for the role, but maybe as the show progresses and her character develops, it won't be entirely in vain after all. I was most impressed by Laura Benanti as the Bunny Mother. We'll see how the show progresses, but if they don't start dealing with the characters properly and if things continue so haphazardly, I predict a short future. And, most importantly, in the magazine of the same name you'll see a lot more than you will here. ()
