Telly und Jennie küssen sich. Jennie hat noch nie mit einem Jungen geschlafen. Jungfrauen "knacken" - darauf steht der 17jährige Telly. "Jungfauen sind geil. Und du kannst dir nichts holen." Zuerst hat Jennie Angst, doch dann kommt Telly zum Ziel. Reine Routine, Technik. Danach wimmelt er Jennie ab. Später trifft sich Telly mit seinem Freund Casper. Sie kaufen sich Dope mit Geld, das sie gerade Tellys Mutter geklaut haben. Total bekifft, verprügeln sie einen Schwarzen, der Casper versehentlich angerempelt hat. Währenddessen sitzen die Mädchen bei Ruby zusammen und Reden über Sex, über den Unterschied zwischen "making love", "having sex" und "fucking". Jennie erzählt, daß sie entjungfert wurde. After the initial sex and the following nonsensical dialogue, it was clear to me that Kids and I will not be friends. The pseudo-documentary camera or the unbearable main characters almost made me feel angry. Something is saved by the conclusion giving a sense of relative coherence and ideas, but the moralistic statement at the end pulls the film back down again. The effort to convey an idea and a warning is truly there. But it practically doesn't work in anything. 30%

The film Kids intrigued me mainly because of how it was shot and how well it captures the reality of adolescence and how young people behave, what they do, and what they are capable of doing, even just for the sake of getting laid. It's like the boundaries are somewhat different, and they are somewhat different, but watching it unfold like this... It's not pleasant.
