Yimou Zhang has managed to direct beautiful films, touching, human, and powerful, even though they focus solely on ordinary people. But their stories are powerful too, and that's what this film is. Humanly beautiful and touching, with powerful scenes that appear ordinary at first glance. But the scene where young Zhao runs after her beloved with food, but can't catch up to him, is breathtaking.
