Aufgrund eines spektakulären Dreifach-Coups landet Sherlock Holmes' Erzfeind Jim Moriarty vor Gericht. Als er trotz erdrückender Beweislast freigesprochen wird, sind Holmes und Dr. Watson fassungslos. Was Holmes zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht ahnt: Moriarty verfolgt einen ausgeklügelten Plan, mit dem er hofft, den brillanten Privatermittler endgültig in die Knie zu zwingen. Kurz darauf entführt Moriarty zwei Kinder - und lässt die Tat so aussehen, als sei Holmes höchstpersönlich der Drahtzieher. Schon bald zweifelt selbst Holmes' alter Freund Inspector Lestrade an seiner Unschuld. (ORF)

Thrilling, what else can I say? What I enjoyed the most was the very dramatic and emotional ending, which managed to get on my nerves even though I am a fan of Conan Doyle and I already knew what would (and also wouldn’t) happen.

I have watched the final episode of the second series, and it has confirmed to me clearly that the "Baskerville" episode was an unfortunate digression, unnecessarily spoiling the first and third parts. Jim Moriarty really let loose this time, shuffled the cards, and the creators seized a great opportunity to inject the necessary pace and atmosphere into the story, adding humor and tension as well, and the result was clearly outstanding.
