Lijepa Dyana

An intimate look at Gypsy refugees in Belgrade's outskirts who make a living by transforming old, classic Citroën 2CVs and Dyanas into Mad Max-like vehicles. These modern beasts of burden are much more efficient than their pushcart competition; their creators ride around in them, collecting old things for the scrapyard or their own homes. And when they return home by evening, they use the car batteries as generators to power their lighting, TVs and mobile chargers. Pretty Dyana shows that Romanies have a knack not only for dancing and singing, but for auto mechanics as well, and that their creativity knows no bounds. (Art Film Fest)
