(ORF)

Englisch In four minutes, Robert Pattinson picks up a chick in his flashy traditional nineteenth-century British suit with the snap of his finger. And do you know what’s the worst thing about it? That I’m not offended, surprised or interested at all. ()

Bravis. ()

Englisch When I watch a movie with Robert Pattinson, I first have to get rid of the idea of how a baseball bat would look on his face. Robert is simply a star who made it, on the other hand, he is probably the brightest star of the "Twilight Saga". Kristen Stewart also did quite well, the rest just muddled along, but we will definitely hear more about someone like Anna Kendrick. But let's talk about "Bel Ami". Pattinson must be acknowledged for trying damn hard. You will believe that sneaky scoundrel who went from dirty boots to the pants of the most influential women in Paris. The expressions he uses are appropriate, and I must say that he suited this role quite well. The actresses who were chosen as his mistresses are decent, none of them are bad, although Kristin Scott Thomas behaves a bit too foolishly at times, which simply doesn't suit her. The most disappointing thing about the movie is that from the beginning, it seems to have a dark ending, but in the end, Bel Ami finds a way to survive and get exactly where he wants. However, the ending in this portrayal is definitely unsatisfying. In the source material, it is directly stated what is going through Bel Ami's mind, and let's face it, on paper, the ending looks better than in this execution, which is, let's say, a bit dreary. The viewer will leave with the thought that they might wonder where those last few minutes went. It's fine for those familiar with the source material, but a bit weak for those unfamiliar. The intrigues, however, work, although in some cases, an overly unclear shortcut is used that doesn't reveal everything about the intentions and motives, and can again evoke the feeling in the viewer that they're watching something that is not completely perfected. As a costume drama, it works great, the eyes won't wander, but the costume designers must be praised. More: http://www.filmovy-denik.cz/2012/07/mistrovsky-plan-nerdi-bel-ami-susi.html ()

Englisch This adaptation of Maupassant's novel "Bel Ami" didn't turn out very well. It remained at a bloodless and desperately empty attempt, which wasn't helped by the star-studded cast. Who would have thought that out of all those famous names, only one would stand out, and that's Christina Ricci. She deserves a great deal of credit for earning the second star; otherwise, with all due respect to the author of the book, I would have had to stick with just one. ()
