Das Gutachten über den Totschläger und Brandstifter Gerald "Stone" Creeson ist kein einfacher Fall. Die Sitzungen mit dem redegewandten und verdammt schlauen Häftling sind nicht gerade das, was man sich als Bewährungsbeamter kurz vor der Pensionierung wünschen würde. Für Jack Mabry wird der Fall zu einer letzten großen Prüfung, denn Stone setzt alle Hebel in Bewegung, um seine vorzeitige Entlassung zu erreichen - einschließlich seiner höchst verführerischen Frau. I’m mainly sorry for the criminally under-utilized cast. I mean, the topic of Stone isn’t bad at all, but the script doesn’t offer much and the director didn’t manage to give the movie anything apart from some pretty shots. And the ending was one big disappointment.

I didn’t expect such a travesty. The cast is decent, unfortunately only on the poster. Otherwise, it's average, or rather, below average (Milla Jovovich). A film without energy, without emotions, without any significant scenes. Robert "sit the fuck down" De Niro hasn't been lucky with good projects lately. John Curran is not a good filmmaker.

I understand what Stone is trying to do, but the problem is that this is not what a psychological drama should be. The script and direction are both helpless, and the result is only one star for Edward Norton's traditionally excellent performance. Otherwise, major talent is required to kill a cast and a promising concept like this. Overall impression: 25%.
