Kassie und Wally sind beste Freunde. Jetzt, mit 40, will Kassie ihren Kinderwunsch erfüllen. Neurotiker Wally sieht sich zwar als perfekten Partner, Kassie entscheidet sich bei der Wahl des Samenspenders aber für den gutaussehenden Roland. Bei Kassies 'Befruchtungsparty' ertränkt Wally seinen Kummer im Alkohol. Sturzbetrunken tauscht er den Inhalt des Samenbehälters mit eigenem genetischen Material aus. Sieben Jahre später kommt Kassie mit Sohn Sebastian zurück nach New York. Wally ahnt, dass der Bub sein Sohn ist. Wie aber soll er die Sache seiner geliebten Kassie erklären? (ORF)

A classic relaxer... Jennifer Aniston as good as ever and Jason Bateman kind of held his own too. A new idea, a new story... why not? 3.5 stars.

Ein solider Vertreter des Romcom-Genres. Nichts Besonderes, komplette Routine, alles ist so, wie es sein sollte. Sie ist sympathisch, aber blind für ihr zukünftiges Gegenüber, er versteht schwer, und natürlich werden sie nur durch Zufall zusammengebracht, und wir müssen auf das Happy End warten, das erst nach der scheinbar endgültigen Trennung kommt. Jennifer Aniston ist ein Genre-Profi, und die anderen machen ihr das nicht kaputt, also kein Kommentar. Ein idealer Entspannungsfilm, der keine unnötige Aufmerksamkeit auf sich zieht, keine Fragen stellt, einfach nur dahin fließt und seine Funktion erfüllt.

The only thing I can praise about this film are the actors none of whom I found annoying. I really liked Jeff Goldblum in his role. That’s about as far as the positives go. The whole film revolved around the method of conception, an issue that is even more relevant today than in the past because white heterosexuals are the quintessence of evil and are impeding humanity's evolutionary progress toward the three seashells. The main problem I had with the film was its acute shortage of humor. There wasn’t anything to laugh about, and the main emotion it made me feel was boredom. The story slowly trudged forward, everything in it the same shade of grey. Just when I thought nothing could break the monotony, along came the little boy who was like Marvin, the robot from Hitchhiker's Guide. But instead of being just as delightfully depressing, he was in-your-face annoying. To make things worse, he was also politically engaged. The character was kind of the last straw for me. / Lesson learned: Do you want to enjoy a truly depressing atmosphere? Watch this movie on a gloomy autumn day. 2*-

I don't like Jennifer Aniston, but in this film, I didn't mind her that much. The main reason was Jason Bateman, who was excellent in this movie along with his son. He has also managed to disappoint me before, but in this case, I had a good time. If there was a different actress instead of Aniston, I would still have enjoyed it. For me, it speaks pretty well of her qualities. The film was entertaining, and sometimes I would gladly watch it again.
