Several years after giving birth to a hideous creature, Yanka, the young heroine from the first film has finally rebuilt her life. She’s now married to the psychiatrist who healed her psychological wounds and is the mother of an adorable little girl. Yanka has also found employment with the police department. While her line of work may at times be trying, she nonetheless lives a peaceful and pleasant life, allowing her to leave her painful past behind. That is, until it returns to haunt her. A series of vicious murders obligates her to tenaciously pursue a sadistic killer. As the mutilated bodies pile up at a fearful rate, she realizes that the clues the murderer leaves behind are directed at her. She’s convinced that the monster she spawned so long ago is back. It seems to be reaching out for her with the intention of beginning the horror anew—the only possibility is that it seeks to reproduce. (Verleiher-Text)

Englisch Yesterday I watched the first part (Baby Blood) and it was more fun than expected, so today I thought I would have a go at the sequel, even if it’s available only in a version with German dubbing (on the other hand, I understand German quite well, unlike French). I’m not happy to say it, but Lady Blood is almost surprisingly bad. I don’t care that the former circus artist and multiple murderess is now a cop, or that it basically doesn’t follow on the first part (which could have been done in great style given the ending), or even that it doesn’t try to be horror. Even considering all that, Lady Blood could have been a good film, but unfortunately, it’s at the very bottom of the quality spectrum. I don’t want to be too pessimistic, but after several disappointments (Lady Blood, The Horde, Mutants, Humains), I’m beginning to think that the good era of French horror new wave has ended just as fast as it began a couple of years ago. ()

Deutsch Also wollt ihr mich jetzt völlig veräppeln! Was sollte das hier sein? Eine Fortsetzung des blutigen Balletts Baby Blood? Da hat es ja überhaupt nichts gemeinsam, außer der Hauptheldin Yanka. Diesem "Film" fehlt wenigstens ein kleines Stück Talent! Nichts funktioniert hier, langsame Szenen wechseln sich mit absolut verwirrten und rasenden Aufnahmen ab, der Editor litt offenbar am wahnsinnigen Zittern, und der abstoßende Fernsehlook setzt dem Ganzen noch die Krone auf. Gore ist billig, dazu auch noch peinlich und selbst Philippe Nahon konnte nicht helfen. In den meisten Fällen bin ich wirklich mild in meiner Bewertung, aber hier geht es nicht anders! Die letzten beiden Teile von Anaconda sind im Vergleich dazu unterhaltsame und frische Werke! Bei den Franzosen habe ich mich diesmal gehörig in den Finger geschnitten. ()
