Englisch But the hedgehog can never be buggered at all... Or can he? I have seen “The Wyrd Sisters", adapted from the sixth Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett, on stage at the Theatre in Dlouhá, Prague, twice. And both times in a completely different “light". The first time, years ago, it was great, refreshing, full of elan, and was a breath of fresh air for Prague’s theatre scene. The excellent cast did nothing else but reinforce the impression I carried away with me, and the couple of weaker, “Vaudeville" moments didn’t matter at all. The occasional appearances made by Death, acted by Peter Varga, rightly became a cult affair. The second time I saw it was in June 2007 and it was an experience of a lower quality level. I don’t know if the theatre company is bored with this play, but this was a shamefully sloppy and lifeless performance. Good in terms of acting craft, but the ensemble didn’t put anything extra into it. It was all too obvious that they were relying on memorable moments that always get a laugh - and I must say they got a laugh this time too. It certainly is a good play. And all thanks to Pratchett’s superb paraphrasing of Shakespeare. And I am very glad that the cameras of Czech Television have recorded it. ()
