Axel drives a big American car, works at a petrol station and lives in a small room in his mother's flat. His sister, Mæja, has a more colourful lifestyle. She's got lots of friends that love going to nightclubs and parties. Axel keeps trying, without success, to open Mæja's eyes and make her come to her senses. One day their different worlds collide and overnight Axel experiences the nightlife in Reykjavik at its worst. He becomes involved with the most ruthless criminals, breaks into the sleaziest nightclub, drives way over the speed limit, kidnaps people and is himself kidnapped. (Verleiher-Text)

This flick is wacky as hell, but I guess that was what the authors were going for. A totally nutty movie with everything it entails, which is trying to keep things simple. At times I was asking myself whether there was a single normal person in the movie, but in the end I had to admit that there probably wasn’t. Well and that’s why this movie is so successful over here.
