Wenige Tage nach den Ereignissen des ersten Teils landet das Virus in Wasserflaschen in der örtlichen Highschool, wo gerade ein Frühlingsball organisiert wird. John möchte eigentlich mit seiner seit Jahren angebeteten Traumfrau Cassie hingehen, die seit kurzem von ihrem Freund getrennt ist. Allerdings lehnt sie seine Einladung ab, da ihr Bruder momentan krank ist. Deprimiert zieht er sich in sein Bett zurück und befürchtet schon einen Splatterfilmabend mit seinen Freunden, die es ebenfalls nicht auf den Ball zieht. Sein Kumpel Alex macht am Tag des Balls jedoch die Bekanntschaft von Liz, die gerade von ihrem Freund sitzengelassen wurde und Alex aus Rache oral befriedigt. Sie stellt ihm in Aussicht, vielleicht auf dem Ball zu erscheinen, weshalb er John überredet, mit zur Party zu kommen. Doch mittlerweile haben viele vom Wasser getrunken – und die, die es bisher nicht taten, erwartet in der Bowle noch eine böse Überrachung. (Silverline Movie Channel)

Einige Szenen sind wirklich eklig, sei es Sex mit einem fünfhundert Pfund schweren Walross oder die Überreste eines Fötus, die aus einem schwangeren Mädchen herausrutschen. Es gibt hier jede Menge Gore, aber die Komödienstimmung gefällt mir überhaupt nicht. Die Anfangs- und Abschlusstitel sind jedoch sehenswert :-)

I enjoyed Spring Fever more than Roth’s first part. Starting from the animated opening credits (which could have replaced the introduction but didn’t) until the end, the film alternates comedy with atmospheric, brutal, and disgusting scenes, with everything working out passably well (unlike Roth’s) and, what is more, the resulting mix holds together (unlike Roth’s). Even though West didn’t have creative freedom as director (in fact, he wanted to distance himself from the film), he did a pretty good job. Just like The House of the Devil felt like occult horror from the 1970s, the sequel to Cabin Fever feels like a (funny) American B-movie from the 1980s, though it’s not as precise and perfect as the former.

The ending is a major letdown because you'll feel like you've been cheated. This is just a game for the audience, meant to disgust them, perhaps entertain them a bit here and there, but ultimately, they'll realize that the film doesn't really offer them anything. Until then, Cabin Fever 2 is a fairly bearable film, perhaps a bit stupid, simple, and predictable, but it doesn't lack entertainment value at times. It's just kind of half-baked.
