Der junge Schmid Kai lernt Berg kennen, einen auf Sagen spezialisierten Antiquar, der ein magisches Artefakt besitzt. Das Artefakt reagiert auf Kai und Berg glaubt in Kai die Reinkarnation von Sintai zu erkennen. Sintai ist ein 2000 Jahre vor Christus geborener Krieger und Dämonenjäger. Kai wird hin- und her gerissen zwischen dem altertümlichen China und dem zeitgenössischen Finnland, in einem gnadenlosen Gefecht gegen Dämonen und für die Liebe. (Verleiher-Text)

Based on the poster, based on the Kalevala epic and based on the fact that it was filmed by the Finns, I thought that this will either be a total blast or a total flop. And the best thing about it were the contradicting opinions that it’s either really good or really bad. And unfortunately, I have to lean towards the “bad”. I didn’t really love the combination of history vs the present. I also didn’t love the combination of Finland vs China, even though I thought I wouldn’t mind at first. But it just wasn’t fun, it was really stupid and everything else stood or fell by that. In any case, I must admit that the filmmaking was really nice at times, especially the Kung Fu scenes; the Finns probably won’t get to film those again.
