Atemberaubend lustige Agentenfilmparodie mit "Nackte Kanone"-Weltstar Leslie Nielsen als Superspion Dick Steel, auch genannt "Agent 00", der es mit dem Erzbösewicht General Rancor und seiner eigenen, mindestens ebenso schädlichen Tollpatschichkeit aufnehmen muss.
Dick Steel ist der beste lebende Geheimagent der Welt - so glaubt er jedenfalls. Seit er vor 15 Jahren mit viel Glück seinen Erzfeind, den fiesen General Rancor ausgeschaltet hat, hat er keinen echten Fall mehr lösen müssen, und als gefährlich gelten bei ihm eigentlich nur seine Abschläge beim Golf. Doch eines Tages spürt Dick, dass es Zeit ist, wieder in den Kampf zu ziehen, denn er erfährt, dass General Rancor gar nicht tot ist, wie er immer vermutete. Rancor ist quicklebendig, wenn er auch dank Dicks Mithilfe vor 15 Jahren seine Arme verloren hat, die mittlerweile durch gemeingefährliche Waffenabschussvorrichtungen ersetzt wurden. Rancor hat die Tochter von Dicks ehemaliger Partnerin Barbara, die einst durch Rancors Heimtücke ums Leben kam, als Geisel genommen und sich in den Besitz einer Nuklearrakete gebracht, mit der er die Welt an den Rand des Abgrundes bringt.
Dick fühlt sich selbst dazu berufen, Rancor erneut das Handwerk zu legen. Er rüstet sich mit der professionellen Unterstützung seines Chefs, dem Direktor, und seiner notorisch flirtenden Sekretärin, Miss Cheevus, für den Ernstfall. Natürlich ist Agent 00 nicht ganz allein im Kampf gegen die Macht des Bösen: Mit ihm sucht die wunderschöne russische Agentin Veronique Ukrinsky nach Rancor, die guten Grund für ihre Mission hat: Ihr Vater, der russische Wissenschaftler Prof. Ukrinsky, wird von Rancor gefangen gehalten, damit er Mikrochips für den angedrohten Raketenabschuss entwickelt. Zu Pferd, Jet, Bus, als Schaf oder auch als Nonne besteht Superagent 00 mit seiner attraktiven Gefährtin waghalsige Abenteuer, bis er schließlich zum alles entscheidenden Showdown dem widerlichen Finsterling Rancor gegenübersteht...

With comedies featuring Leslie Nielsen as the main entertainer, I generally have problems and evaluate them much more critically than the "mainstream". This is because I prefer a more subtle, sophisticated humor, like what Horníček used to promote here, for example. The issue with laughter itself is a problem. It is possible to evoke emotion or adrenaline using the same methods with different people or cultures, but it doesn't work like that with laughter... I endured this matter for about 40 minutes, I really tried, but I didn't find anything that seemed funny to me. Instead, with every minute, the feeling of embarrassment for the creators grew above this flood of failed gags. Overall impression: 10%. The Czech title tries to evoke an association with Vorlíček's agent W4C, but it towers above this mess like Sněžka over a pile of dog droppings...

A parody that doesn't offend with its content, but that formally it's objectionable. A few excellent jokes save a lot of this showcase of bland situations, which I’m giving a solid three stars really only because I have a soft spot for Mr Nielsen... But I don’t want to watch it again. 50%

Leslie Nielsen became the star of movie parodies by basically playing the same character over and over again. It may sound like criticism, but I actually consider it a positive. I found all the agents and detectives he played hilarious, and I still do. His acting had a certain quirkiness to it that often reminded me of the Looney Tunes characters. Yes, especially Wile E. Coyote. Spy Hard was definitely not a quality film. In fact, I don’t even consider it a film. It was rather a long series of sketches that parodied many (and I mean many) well-known films. If the filmmakers hadn’t insisted on making a film out of these individual sketches, I would have been more generous with my rating, but this way, two stars are enough. / Lesson learned: You can live without your arms, but you will get into many precarious situations.
