Für Finanzmanager Evan Danielson (Eddie Murphy) steht die Arbeit an erster Stelle, er ist ein unverbesserlicher Workaholic. Es geht ihm den ganzen Tag über nur darum, seine Klienten reich zu machen. Dass seine siebenjährige Tochter Olivia (Yara Shahidi) da nicht mehr genug Aufmerksamkeit bekommt, versteht sich von selbst. Doch dann hat Olivias Mutter (Nicole Ari Parker) die Nase voll von der Prioritätensetzung ihres Mannes. Sie zwingt ihn dazu, mehr Zeit mit seiner Tochter zu verbringen und seinen BlackBerry dafür mal abgeschaltet zu lassen. Fortan nimmt Evans Alltag dermaßen chaotische Züge an, dass sein Konkurrent Johnny Whitefeather (Thomas Haden Church) an ihm vorbeizuziehen droht. Als Evan durch Zufall herausfindet, dass Olivias imaginäre Freundinnen die Entwicklungen an der Börse vorhersagen können, wittert er seine Chance, mit Hilfe seines Sprösslings doch noch die Karriereleiter hinaufzuklettern... So imagine that while Eddie Murphy doesn’t bring any great scenes to this film, as he did when he was a cop from Beverly Hills, on the other hand he doesn’t play twenty roles, including the little girl. I have to say that since I like Eddie, I also quite liked this film and I would say that the rather low rating on this site is given more by what the herd thinks about Eddie, not what the individual thinks about him. The film is not really bad, and as far as today’s family movies go I would say that it is quite pleasant and above average.
