Leichtes erotisches Drama über einen Voyeur, der das persönliche Leben anderer Mieter aus dem Dachgeschoss eines Mietshauses beobachtet und nach einer emotionalen Hingabe einer verrückten wohlhabenden Dame beschließt, auch zu drastischen Taten überzugehen. Es muss gesagt werden, dass Der Spanner auf dem Dachboden sehr langsam voranschreitet und bei weitem nicht so viel Unterhaltung bietet, wie es auf den ersten Blick erscheinen mag. Dennoch ist es ein Film, der sich in die Themen der geheimen Sehnsüchte der menschlichen Seele begibt und anschaulich zeigt, wie die Gesellschaft in Japan in den 1920er Jahren aussah. [FOD 2020]

The Watcher in the Attic is a film that for a while immerses you in the secrets of lust and activities that usually happen behind closed doors and you don't want anyone to know about. You become a voyeur yourself, but the connection between the viewer and the characters is not that strong, which is probably the main stumbling block here. Yet for a while, you can become voyeurs yourself in this psychologically interesting game.
