Szabó Pál, a young engine-driver from the country has one old dream come true. He is to serve on the Pest fast train. Finta János, a drunkard, is the fireman on the midnight fast train. Finta also courts Balogh Anna, the engine-driver's fiancée. The jealous fireman is preparing for a revenge. Drunk, he knocks down his rival. The train is travelling at high speed in the night with no engine-driver attending to his job. Szabó Pál's young nephew, the young railway officer intervenes to prevent a tragic accident from happening. The fireman is dismissed. However, he does not give up the idea of a criminal attempt, this time he decides to blow up the train. His nephew intervenes again, so Anna, his fiancée can eventually meet him at the country railway station. (Verleiher-Text)
