Alkalom

Gáthy István, a factory owner, finds his wife in the week-end house of the architect who built their villa at Lake Balaton. He is furious and throws the woman out, refusing to listen to her explanations. Next morning an empty boat is stranded and Mária's scarf is found in it. The police speculate that the woman must have drowned. István is informed that she was expecting a baby. From this time on he finds no rest, roaming nervously in the world, looking for Mária everywhere and all the time, doubting her death. Finally, after many years, he finds her in Nice. She lives there with her little son, earning her living by singing in a bar. At last Mária has the opportunity to prove her innocence. István tells her how much he regrets his action. She forgives him and returns to him with their child. (Verleiher-Text)
