Los Angeles 1991. Sykes ist ein knallharter Cop, der den undankbaren Job hat, in Slagtown Dienst zu schieben. Slagtown ist ein Stadtteil, der von menschenähnlichen Flüchtlingen, den “Slags”, aus dem All bevölkert ist. Bei einem Überfall wird sein Partner von Slags brutal zusammengeschossen. So ist Sykes nicht eben begeistert, als ihm sein Chef seinen neuen Partner vorstellt: Sam Francisco, der von Buttermilch besoffen wird und anstatt Hamburger mit Pommes rohes Biberfleisch seine Leibspeise nennt. Doch allen anfänglichen Streitigkeiten zum Trotz macht sich das ungleiche Paar an die Aufklärung des Falles, der nur ein Mosaikstein eines mörderischen Komplotts ist, bei dem kriminelle Slags die ansonsten friedliebende Koexistenz von Mensch und Alien rücksichtslos zu zerstören versuchen.
