Lucy Collins (Whoopi Goldberg) ist Produzentin bei einem Home-Shopping-Kanal. Das Weihnachtsfest steht vor der Tür und Lucy sucht den idealen Nikolaus-Darsteller. Als sie einen Schauspieler namens Nick (Nigel Hawthorne) verpflichtet, bekommt sie mehr als sie sich jemals vorgestellt hat. Nick ist nämlich der einzig wahre und wirkliche Nikolaus. Doch der hat ein Problem: Nach 200 Jahren steht seine Ablösung an und er muss dringend einen Nachfolger präsentieren. Schafft er es nicht, dann drohen unvorhersehbare Konsequenzen für die Welt. Aber Nick hat eine Idee: Wie wäre es, wenn Lucy seinen Job übernehmen würde? (Columbia TriStar Film)

In this film, Whoopi plays a character that is as annoying as the draft coming from under your door and on top of that, she hates Christmas. And even though the actual Santa Claus, portrayed by an actor who is very well known for his role of the permanent secretary at a ministry, Sir Humprey Appleby in Yes, Minister!,manages to change her mind about Christmas, it still doesn’t save the overall impression of the movie. At least the Yanks put his residence to Norway. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
