Die Welt am Abgrund: der diabolische Diktator Bison (Raul Julia) terrorisiert mit seiner gewalttätigen Streitmacht das Land. Über 60 UN Mitarbeiter hat er bereits als Geiseln, verlangt 20 Milliarden Dollar Lösegeld, der gefährliche Konflikt steht an der Schwelle eines Weltkrieges. Da tritt der Oberbefehlshaber der Alliierten Truppen, Colonel Guile (Jean-Claude Van Dame )mit seiner Elitekämpferin Cammy (Kylie Minouge) zu einer geheimen Rettungsaktion an. Guile schleust zwei kleine Waffenschieber, die er bei einer Razzia erwischt hat, als Spitzel in die Gang des Waffenhändlers Sagat (Wes Studi) ein. Such craziness, which is not that bad in execution, even though one might think so based on the time of its creation. If there are any tricks, they are not nearly as bad as one might think. I quite like that it's such a crazy costume, where things go haywire and it actually turns out quite well. Nothing groundbreaking, but a nice hour and a half of entertainment, yes.

That's all I'll give it, even though my lustful eyes feasted on the ravishing Kylie. I could simply put on a clip with her and I wouldn’t have to watch this botched and boring Van Damme flick.

A cult-classic, though not exactly brilliant, it is one of the most famous films with Jean-Claude Van Damme. There isn't as much action as there should be and, on the contrary, there is an abundance of chatter. But the self-parody and several interesting references and winks occasionally make you smile, realising that they didn't take everything so seriously after all. Furthermore, towards the end, Van Damme showcases some great kicks and flips, so that's a small plus.
