This is so bad I wouldn't even include it in our Vomit Screen film club program, which focuses on the worst B-movies. The creators of this shite should be served as an appetizer to the Rockbiter. (04.07.2002)

From all aspects, a messed-up movie that should be marked as not suitable for children in an attempt to cultivate their taste. Terrible script and execution. Complete degeneration of the original idea of the literary NeverEnding Story. If Ende, as the author of the source material, had very serious objections even to the above-average first film, then this impressive mess most likely brought him to the grave, as he died a few months after the premiere. Eine schreckliche Fortsetzung, die jeden Anflug von Urteilskraft verloren hat. Die Kindliche Kaiserin wird von Nummer zwanzig gespielt, und die ursprünglichen Bewohner von Phantasien entsprechen eher dem Design der Charaktere aus der späteren Animationsserie. Selbst der Antiquar Koreander wurde zum Bibliothekar an der Schule suspendiert. Sinnlose Anspielungen auf die Popkultur, unnötige Szenen im Einkaufszentrum... Schwach, sehr schwach. Leider hat Ende das noch miterlebt. (26.12.2021)

This is really bad. The story itself is pathetic, but here no one understood the magic of the first film. It's a farce with fairytale scenery that takes place in the contemporary world. Recognizing young Jack Black is not a victory. But that's not the whole cringeworthy movie that incredibly naively tries to evoke emotions. (30.11.2014)
