Sie starteten mit dem richtigen Kampfgeist, der richtigen Einstellung, jedoch der falschen Hautfarbe! Dieses packende Kriegsdrama schildert den ungewöhnlichen Siegeszug der ersten farbigen Piloten im Jahr ‘43 von Tuskegge (Alabama) bis nach Berlin. Es zeigt junge Männer, die für “Die Ehre zu fliegen” und für ihr Land zu kämpfen, ein unmenschlich hartes Training durchstehen, an dem viele von ihnen physisch und psychisch zerbrechen. Es schildert wahres Heldentum und praktizierte Kameradschaft. Es verschweigt aber auch nicht rassistische Intoleranz bis in die höchsten Ränge der politischen Führung des Landes. The Tuskegee Airmen has a story I wanted to see for a really long time. In comparison to the Red Tails which I’ve watched recently I have to say that although this one is a television movie, it still wins. Its filmmaking is honest, at times maybe too honest. The story tries to stick to the reality tooth and nail and sometimes the movie is a bit boring. On the other hand, the flight combats are flawless and it is apparent that the actors tried their best in making this movie. Three stars for the properly done job and honesty. Nothing more.
