Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts soll der Brite John Henry Patterson in Afrika eine Brücke über den Tsavo-Fluss errichten lassen. Der Bau geht gut voran, bis zwei mordlustige Löwen auf den Plan treten. Nacht für Nacht greifen die Raubkatzen das Lager an und reißen gezielt einen Arbeiter nach dem anderen. 130 Menschen sterben, ohne dass die Tiere zur Strecke gebracht werden konnten. Als die einheimischen Arbeiter fliehen, wendet sich der entnervte Patterson an den erfahrenen Großwildjäger Remington. Gemeinsam wollen sie das mörderische Treiben beenden, doch ihre Gegner sind nicht zu unterschätzen. (Kinowelt)
