A recurring theme in Astrid Lindgren's stories is the lonely child who is left to himself, and who in some way always copes. This is the case also in Simon Small Moves in. Bertil is five years old, an only child since the death of his sister. His parents are kind enough but both work in a nearby factory during the day, leaving Bertil in the care of the benevolent but boring old lady upstairs. (Verleiher-Text)
