God of Gamblers

An entertaining amoral comedy about gambling and memory loss. The best gambler in the world trips, falls off a cliff and remembers nothing. Chow Yun-Fat turns from a confident gambler into an infantile kid who only wants his chocolate, and two second-rate thieves want to use his skills to enrich themselves. Funny incidents, lighthearted scenes and growing camaraderie are then interspersed with bloody carnage and brutal shootouts. It's horribly paced and has questionable drama, but it's very original. For me, a truly pleasant surprise. Chow Yun-Fat is my favorite actor of Asian origin, and I'm glad I finally got to something else. This is a funny movie, full of action, but also with excellent scenes that are related to gambling. Moreover, Chow entertained me as a child after a head injury. (24.08.2015)
