Constant

Constant is a hallucinatory journey through the social and political histories of measurement. From early modern European land enclosures to the French Revolution and the current frontier of science, the film traces the relationship of measurement standardization to power, ideals of democratisation and the realities of dispossession. Cinematic and technical images that begin as products of measurement systems are stretched beyond their functions to describe the resistance of lived experience to symbolic abstractions.
