The creators of the crime story were inspired by the subject matter of Hungarian Nazi law suits dragging on up to the sixties. In the Völgyváros church the ecclesiastical object vendor Bammert demands the offerings from the parish clerk Solti, when the vicar catches them in the act. In order to avoid the police, Bammert confesses to the priest that Solti was his Hungarian Nazi commander but escaped jail, while he himself served a 15-year-sentence. Solti does not know about the confession and he kills Bammert who was getting to be inconvenient. Investigation reveals that Bammert must have been a Fascist mass killer named Köszlinger or Szemes. Doubt is preying on the priest's mind, yet he is bound by the seal of confession. He tries to convince Solti to confess and this nearly costs his life. (Verleiher-Text)
