Fitos, an experienced man and an outstanding workman with a long work record, works for the Transdanubian Porcelain Factory and is one of those who stand up for slow work and high-quality performance. Patak, another experienced factory hand, is, at the same time, one who takes every possible assignment upon himself, someone who, out of his self-inflicted eagerness, never has a moment's rest and goes about new tasks and duties to accomplish. Patak Pista, in love with Fitos Juli, does not wish to follow in the footsteps of his father. Andorkó and his men join in their effort to get Fitos and Patak Pista to become participants of the labour competition, which they are prepared to do gladly in the end with Patak letting the young generation do most of the work, while Mrs. Patak, instead of spending time her in her home in a state of discontent and boredom, ends up as an employee of the factory. This is how the first swallows have their share in the education of people in springtime. (Verleiher-Text)
