The amateur theatrical company of the little town is preparing a performance. The rehearsal is disturbed by Imi, who is in love with Brigi, causing heartache to his friend Tibi, who is not willing to withdraw. Tibi intimates Imi that Brigi is in love with Zsoli. Imi and Zsoli fight a strange duel in the schoolyard. A honorary guest, the reknowned film director Miklós Jancsó, is expected for the first performance, but it has to be cancelled, because Tibi helps Zsoli's gang to assault and humiliate Imi. But Brigi and Imi find each other. Next day, however, there is another duel between Imi and Zsoli, ending in Imi's death. In the field, next to Imi's favourite tree, a little one is growing, and, all in peace, the kids play football around them. (Mokép)
