Der erfolgreiche Yuppie Drew Latham hat eine außergewöhnliche Idee, um Weihnachten einmal nicht alleine verbringen zu müssen. Für 250.000 Dollar verschafft er sich Anschluss bei Familie Valco, die im Haus seiner Kindheit lebt. Die arme Vorort-Familie hat das Geld bitter nötig. Und so nehmen Mutter Christine, Vater Tom und der pubertierende Filius Brain Drews Angebot widerwillig an.
