Fast & Furious - Neues Modell. Originalteile. (2009)

Englisch Return to the days when action heroes deserved endless admiration. Although some things may creak, especially the plot or Brian's investigative methods, I still enjoy it just the same. Everyone involved from the first installment literally shines in a grand opportunity, and the action continues to take my breath away, to my delight and slight relief. The threat that history would repeat itself with a decline in quality was proven to be the exact opposite, as the reboot, instead of copying the original in its uniqueness, opened doors to a scale many times larger. The fourth installment will remain unique in the series precisely because it hinted at future things while remaining a nostalgic spectacle with classic elements such as revenge or a love story.

Bride Wars - Beste Feindinnen (2009)

Englisch Just had to reduce the screaming, make the whole game into fairy tales for adults, and most importantly, explain a little more why some relationships are obvious and some have a really thorny path to happiness. Without that, the film remained, which most guys will resist with the code name "a film just for girls" and they will still puzzle over why the double wedding is actually a bad idea. With more space for the first-class Bryan Greenberg in another role as a nice guy next door, it could have turned out completely differently.

Breakfast Club - Der Frühstücksclub (1985)

Englisch Nice guys didn't die out, resistance didn't fall off. A film that deserves to be quoted (Scrubs), imitated (Dawson's Creek), and parodied (Not Another Teen Movie). In any case, it is an ideal generational statement surpassing either the famous Ridgemont High or Linklater's Dazed and Confused.

Snow Angels (2007)

Englisch Seemingly nothing is happening here, the inhabitants are marked by everyday routine, and the suffocating atmosphere of a small town occasionally manifests itself in a small scandal or radical act that becomes the main gossip for a while. It took a while to embrace these rules, but enjoying the escalating mood is worth it. The sad paradox is that although the script sets the stage for the ending from maybe halfway through, it ultimately undermines itself with its unnecessary haste. 70% and rounding down for that final disappointment.

Der Mann, der Bäume pflanzte (1987)

Englisch Humanly most acceptable philosophy, the power of simplicity and the beauty of life. A story about trees, about the forest, about the variability of people and the constancy of time, from which the gaze is detached only with great difficulty.

Die Tudors (2007) (Serie)

Englisch 1. series - 70% - Detailed politics, engaging relationships, uncompromising actions, and plenty of storylines that unfortunately lack attractiveness. If the script focused on the king, his partners, and possibly the most interesting people around him, namely Wolsey and Brandon in my eyes, it would be a perfect period drama. Instead, it delves too deeply into historical facts (which, when occasionally altered, loses its meaning) and undermines the central story itself. 2. series - 85% - A tougher caliber in every aspect. A more volatile Henry, intrigues reaching as far as Rome, and even without history, there is a clear sense that optimism is futile here. The main improvement over the initial season, however, is undoubtedly a more understandable politics and the understanding that not everything discussed at court during that time needs to be said. Banished Catherine, Thomas More, or the ever-present Cromwell, therefore, have a stronger and more significant place in the story. The most famous turning point in Henry's reign comes at the very end, leaving a slight taste of fate and a new beginning. 3. series - 90% - Michael Hirst continues his scripts with a qualitative rise and brings the Tudors into a period of eternal disagreements, crushing disappointments, and hints of inevitable destruction. Above all, he shows that even long-term scheming characters deserve compassion or that even the strongest character can succumb to omnipresent pressure and resort to the same practices used by the people around them. In addition, I also experienced my favorite episode of all time. I don't want to reveal anything about it because although history may not be a spoiler, I doubt we have all studied Henry's biography from A to Z. So I'll just say it's the fourth episode. Those who have seen it know. Those who haven't will be enchanted. 4. series - 75% - Aging king, thickening intrigues, intellectually stimulating Henry's offspring, and the conclusion of the saga. It's a pity that this time the script occasionally stumbles slightly and a few motifs are repeated because the main protagonist's changing wives cannot be thrilling forever, and debates about the meaning and direction of the English Church have also been discussed from all sides. However, the Tudors have no chance of falling into mediocrity. After all, the actors are too brilliant, led by the resurrected Myers. His complete transformation from an impulsive young man into a tormented man tormented by his own uncontrollable self is one of the most impressive long-term acting performances I have had the pleasure of knowing. He is very skillfully seconded by the mature Henry Cavill and Sarah Bolger, who convincingly matures from an inconspicuous character into a potential ruler full of terrifyingly clear goals. However polarizing the final series may be, its ending resonates for a long time. Fateful reconciliation and memories of crucial moments in human life. And peace in Henry's eyes. A bow, Your Majesty.

Watchmen - Die Wächter (2009)

Englisch It hasn't been a year since The Dark Knight and suddenly crowds of people were shouting that Watchmen are too serious for a comic and therefore ridiculous. On the other hand, Batman's established visual style is so firmly maintained that Snyder's work suddenly becomes too colorful for a serious drama. And prejudices, apart from the puritan part of society, also started to affect the average viewer, who suddenly cannot digest a few non-offensive "blue" shots. And so, they miss out on the pleasure of a brilliant adaptation, masterful direction, and performances that not only do not disrupt but precisely fulfill each character and flawlessly disrupt all the previous superhero stereotypes. In my eyes, Watchmen are a masterpiece that paradoxically surpassed its time. They are modern and, despite their generous length, very skillfully directed, but their nostalgic melancholy still has no place in the genre. However, they can easily become an untouchable idol for all those who accept them.

Medvídek (2007)

Englisch No aggressive undermining of relationships, no bravado, no affectation. Hřebejk shocks only by the humility with which he approaches the material, by being aware that not everything has to work out for him, and last but not least by the fact that he succeeds with Medvídek. The paradox is that one of the director's trademarks, his favorite "parents sitting at the table discussing their mistakes", hurts him the most. The duo Menzel-Křesadlová has the potential, but their intermezzo is ultimately out of place and undermines the atmosphere built up until then. Fortunately, Jarchovský's script does not rush, but also does not drag on, giving every character enough space for the final catharsis to work perfectly and making us forget about artificial moments like "an ordinary afternoon of an unhappy married woman." It is still just a contemplative tragicomedy about relationships, but connected so skillfully that the authors become competitive again.

Gran Torino (2008)

Englisch Another leisurely trip to the afflictions of old age and the desires of youth, and after "Million Dollar Baby," another demonstration of Eastwood's mastery. To obtain several excellent refutations of clichés, even while showing himself as the hero of the year, Clint once again defies cinematography according to his own principles. 90% and an unstoppable finish after them.

Death Note (2006) (Serie)

Englisch A fascinating journey into the world of relentless battles, where only the chosen resort to firearms. Every written name on a small piece of paper can mean a crucial turning point, and anarchy closely touches absolutism. Death Note, however, captivates mainly with its tangible atmosphere of fear of Kira and the related respect from both main opponents. But it is precisely their genius that is the only obstacle. Keeping track of the number of notebooks, Shinigami, Kiras, or well-thought-out long-term plans is sometimes truly exhausting, and I have occasionally found myself helplessly waiting for an explanation. Otherwise, this polished thriller is a unique anime, after which the notebooks in black covers will never be the same.
