Briefe an Julia (2010)

Englisch Amazing Italian atmosphere full of alleyways and good food... I love it! Add to it a hopeless romantic and a bit of a jaded Romeo. A nice story about finding old and new love. Again, pretty naive, but strong. Plus I've always had a soft spot for balcony scenes and a nice soundtrack. Although I hate awkward misunderstandings like "Oh nooo, that's my cousin, that's not my girlfriend...". But that one made me close my eyes and cover my ears. I think "sweet" is the right word for this movie. Amanda Seyfried has made her reputation with me. Nice.

Wasser für die Elefanten (2011)

Englisch The circus finally got a good movie. Witherspoon has earned a spot in my top 10 favorite actresses with this one. The pairing of Reese and Pattinson was a really good choice. I was worried that the film would be "too heavy". In the end, I had no problem digesting it because it is made with a tremendously light touch. The costumes and hairstyles are also exceptionally well done. The script is also beautiful, so there you go.

Zum Ausziehen verführt (2006)

Englisch Failure to Launch, for all its naïveté, is one of my favorite movies. I considered the combination of Sarah J. Parker and Matthew McConaughey to be beyond well matched. The script one big, but nice, cliché. But the biggest star for me was definitely Zooey Deschanel and her bird. It was a good chill-out movie that I definitely wasn't bored with.

Privileged (2008) (Serie)

Englisch Megan's naïveté is pretty flagrant, but that's how it is in American shows. While some things work surprisingly well here, the series is not particularly original. It bothers me that the plots aren't very sophisticated and don't feel emotional. It also doesn't quite work as a comedy. A better average... 3.5 stars.

Blind Wedding - Hilfe, sie hat ja gesagt! (2006)

Englisch A movie that couldn't disappoint me, only surprise me... and it did. For me, an excellent comedy led by the great Isla Fisher. Jason Biggs once again did not disappoint and played his role to perfection. The dozens of original jokes almost had me rolling on the floor laughing (e.g. the non-pregnant pregnant woman). The only thing I can't forgive the filmmakers for are the sex scenes of Anderson's parents... those were more embarrassing than funny. But that's a mere blemish on a beauty. "Why is he hugging that cop?" "I'll explain later, honey." "No, seriously, why is she hugging that cop?" 4.5 stars.

London - Liebe des Lebens? (2005)

Englisch I watched this movie mainly for the original cast (Jessica Biel, Jason Statham, Isla Fisher). The script is a bit "wild", the atmosphere is quite confused. Actually, all the noodling around about nothing didn’t really appeal to me...I should promise myself I won't watch movies like this again!

Lotrando und die schöne Zubejda (1996)

Englisch One of those very successful Czech fairy tales. I can handle Mr. Svěrák, so I didn't mind "his atmosphere" at all. Lotrando's stupidity always entertains me. Plus the great music from Mr. Uhlíř makes the fairy tale even more fabulous. Well done on all fronts and I too would bring back the days of beautiful Czech fairy tales.

Du eolgurui yeochin (2007)

Englisch The film didn't really live up to my expectations. Gu-chang is simply a weak link in love with a mixed up girl with many names. This time even Ryeo-won Jeong didn't grab me in this movie. One of the few South Korean romances that didn't move me much. I was expecting a worse My Sassy Girl, I got an average one.

Frühstück bei Tiffany (1961)

Englisch Everyone should see this gem! Audrey Hepburn has always struck me as a lady with everything that goes with it. She's the reason this film has no shortage of wit, originality, and romance. If there's one thing that's got pizzazz, it's this. The final scene in the rain, when Audrey is running and shouting "Cat, cat, caaaat..." is legendary. I love the music, the interiors, the elegant fashion, the haircuts, the gloves... I love Tiffany! And George Peppard is a real man. Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my all-time favorites.

Country Strong (2010)

Englisch Country isn't really my cup of tea, and I don't particularly like Gwyneth Paltrow either. The only reason I watched this movie was because of the amazing Leighton Meester. She is growing in my eyes as an actress and as a singer. I already knew Paltrow could sing from Glee. But as an actress she surprised me and this is definitely her most successful role. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the choice of songs, which surprisingly didn't tear my ears out. And Garrett Hedlund was ultimately likable. 4 stars and I admit it had its strengths.
