Classic Bond. A better script, more one liners, explosions and action; the fight on the train in particular is very good. The first villain babe, numbers, a shoe with a knife and a gorgeous Bond-girl. And JimBo comes back in Goldfinger.

This isn’t completely traditional the Bond movies after all, the storytelling structure is fixed, but James isn’t yet the carefree Casanova that we’re used to, he just does his job in his own way. Traditional espionage tricks, not futuristic weapons, and only in the finale does Dr. No start to smack of sci-fi (metal claws, radiation), but that’s the way I like it. Ursula Andress is an old-style, double-edged goddess, with the wave of a wand, she changes from half-naked native in a bikini into Barbie and back again. Connery is my favorite Bond and he clearly enjoys the role of murderous bastard. An immortal classic. I think they were on their way to a funeral.

I haven’t read the book, so I liked it much more than most people (who have read it), so I will have the last laugh when I get around to reading the book, because I will relive the fun while the rest of you had to suffer the (supposedly) less funny hundred and nine minutes of the movie. Ha Ha Ha. P.S.: Marvin rocks.

Excellent acting performances and precise directing. I like battles against fate and this is a really tough one. The mindset of the Soviets that says never settle for defeat is extremely tangible and in some cases in this movie it triumphs the instinct to survive, as we see in the powerful scenes where they are repairing the reactor.

It doesn’t have the balls of The Hurt Locker, but it’s much more interesting. Immediately having left the nest, Maya the Honey Bee is entrusted with the job to find the bearded villain who knocked down the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Maya was looked for him, grumbling that she’s lacks the means, then she found him and sent a team to take him out. A tear was shed. The End. I hope I haven’t spoiled the ending for you with this SPOILER that they got Bin Laden. :) Jessica Chastain was the energetic powerhouse of the entire movie, even with her one-dimensional character who lives for work alone, and she continues on and up in her career development. As for the other members of the actors’ ensemble, the awesome Jason Clarke is No. 1 in this picture, winning over the audience with his interrogation at the beginning. Mark Strong rocks again, his entry is one of the most memorable scenes of the movie. Kathryn Bigelow managed everything she had to, but as a whole it’s too long and spends a long time beating about the bush. I know that this was how it really happened, but it harms the story. Otherwise decent work, nothing more. It's cool, that you're strong and I respect it, I do. But in the end, everybody breaks, bro. It's biology.

Denzel is cool! His nomination for the golden baldy is deserved. Although Flight claims that booze is bad, it basically says that cocaine is fine (if you have a tendency to overdo it with booze). I have one problem with this picture, I would have ended it after the first “no" before the commission. Then it wouldn’t have been such a propaganda stunt. Robert Zemeckis was missing in the classic movies genre, and his talent speaks for itself. His intimate scenes are sensational and he does visual masterpieces (plane falling) even better. Next time, a little shorter and pick a slightly better screenplay. Praise be to Jesus!

It isn’t so long ago that I saw Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove and I said to myself that it’s a shame it’s primarily a comedy. It would have made it possible to get more out of the issue, and hey presto, Sidney Lumet did it that very same year. The pragmatic motherfucker played by Walter Matthau is definitely the best character in the picture. Henry Fonda makes a good president (his only and worthy co-star is the young, recently passed Larry Hagman), but after this decision, he wouldn’t escape being lynched. The last quarter of an hour is a chilling nail-biter that made me give it full marks. They’re politicians, they don’t care what happens to us. Politics is all about making mistakes... Save the earth before they destroy it with their noxious politics.

A gem polished by time and the furnace of hell. Sidney Lumet is good at this type of movie and this exhaustive and exhausting depiction of a military prison somewhere in the Libyan desert is one of his best. I’ve seen lots of prison movies, but this one goes one step further than the others. The Hill doesn’t show a prison, but a nightmare. If prisons today were like this, the homeless would think twice about stealing rolls from the supermarket and would choose to eat rats instead. Sean Connery excels, but so do all of the actors. No shortage of dry, British one-liners. A really powerful ending that stays with you even after the end. ...but the army is good for nothing if you don’t follow orders!

A little inconsistent, but still the best western for the past god knows how many years. Django Unchained has three parts. The first is an enthralling introduction (the story about Siegfried), again dominated by the absolute genius Christoph Waltz. The second, wordy one, with cultivated dialogues, the amazing candy-muncher DiCaprio, who is surpassed only by Samuel L. Jackson as the (self-proclaimed) “filthiest darn nigger of all times". You can do nothing but revel in his masterfully feigned brown-nosing. The third part, for the most part an action inferno, where blood flows by the gallon, Jamie Foxx steals for himself. Personally I’m not usually his biggest fan, but here he’s perfect, he acts exactly how he’s supposed to and nails the entire development of Django as a person with ease. Camera, editing and direction are almost flawless, as is customary for Tarantino’s movies. The music is just right, mainly the old instrumentals by Ennio and Jerry Goldsmith. One of the movies of the year. Those lyin', goddamn time-wastin' sons of bitches...

A wine-soaked crime story where Columbo puts on a top-notch performance. And this episode is even better for featuring the excellent Donald Pleasence. The satisfying and slightly sarcastic ending with the lesson about the relativity of freedom has a perfect, rounded nose. One of my favorite episodes.
