Leidulv Risan

Leidulv Risan has extensive experience from the Norwegian film and television industries, as a higly productive screenwriter and director since the early eighties. He was educated at Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm (now the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts), and made his debut with the drama The Execution in 1981. Since then he has directed several feature films and mini-series' for television, like the box-office hit Etter... Rubicon (1987) and two of the two biggest Norwegian productions in the nineties; The Warrior's Heart (1992) and The Sunset Boys (1995).

A master screenwriter, Risan has written most of the films he's directed, in addition to also writing screenplays for other directors to take on, like the critically accalimed box-office hit The Dive in 1989. In addition to writing (original) scripts for feature films and TV-series', Risan has also written several short films and stage plays, as well as adapting other material for the screen, for example dramatizing the classic Arne Garborg play "The Teacher" from 1896, for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) in 1994. In 1998 Risan also was attached to the Norwegian Film School as adjunct professor, lecturing in screenwriting, advancing to professor and director of the screenwriting course of the school in 2005.
