Mariusz Wilczyński

He studied Fine Arts at Łódź, graduating in 1986. He is a filmmaker and professor of animation at the Film School of Łódź, creating a long series of animated auteur films in a self-taught way during the last twenty years. Retrospectives of his work have been held at places such as the MoMA in New York, the National Museum of Brazil, the Tokyo International Forum and the National Museum in Warsaw, and his work has been shown at numerous festivals. He has co-directed live animation performances with symphony orchestras and has exhibited his drawings and paintings throughout the world. It took him eleven years to complete Kill It and Leave This Town (2020), which premiered at the Berlinale and won the Special Jury Prize at Annecy.
