Biografie

Andrea Sweeney Blanco is a Mexican-American Theatre, Film and TV actress. Born and raised in Monterrey Mexico, Andrea is of Spanish and Irish descent and has been working professionally as an actress since the age of six. Andrea can be seen as Laurie Simmons in the German TV drama Martha Tanzt  with Katie Fforde Productions, directed by Helmut Metzger playing opposite Harald Schrott and Franziska Brandmeier.

At 14 years old, she was featured opposite Martin Short and Tim Allen on Michael Lembeck’s feature film Santa Clause 3. She had the recurring role of Bri on Emerson Chanel’s TV drama Trophy Case, and can be seen as a Guest Star on the popular web series Twenty  as Mila Palacios. Andrea also had a leading role in the Nickelodeon/Hip TV Documentary The New Generation of Latinos , and has been the face for 6 national commercial campaigns for the Latino market.

Andrea has worked on over 15 festival shorts, and has won the Best Actor award in the New Hampshire short film festival, and Best Supporting Actress award in New York City short film festival. She was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the LA Short Film Festival. She has appeared in over 30 professional theatre productions, including Broadway Under the Stars Seasons 1 & 2  (Guest Star), Chicago  (Roxy Hart), The Odd Couple  (Cecile), The Sound of Music  (Leisl), A Chorus Line  (Sheila), and worked with Richard Montoya and Michael Roth on the Culture Clash original production of SAPO  at the Getty Villa in Malibu.

She hosted a popular radio show in New England for four years called Standing Room Only, interviewing Broadway and Film professionals, including Andrew Lippa, Sara Bareilles, and Dean Pitchford. Andrea got her BFA in Musical Theatre from Emerson College and studied Comparative World Religions at Harvard University for two years. She enjoys volunteer work, singing a various LA nursing homes, and spending time with her family.
