Anysay Keola was born and grew up in Lao PDR. In mid-2012, his thesis movie At the Horizon was a great success for the Lao cinema industry − the film has attained recognition from various groups of audiences among Southeast Asia and the Asian pacific region. Together with other young Lao filmmakers, he founded Lao New Wave Cinema Productions in 2012. Anysay Keola wrote and directed the first LGBTQ movie in Laos, titled Noy (2015). In 2019, Anysay Keola wrote and directed Expiration Date.
