Biografie

Mitsuo Yanagimachi was born on November 2, 1945 in Ibaraki, Japan. After graduating from law school at Waseda University, Yanagimachi, who wanted to pursue filmmaking, started work, and ended up becoming a freelance assistant director in 1970. Four years later, he started "Production Gunro" (Wolf Production Team), his own production company, and after two years, he had produced his first work, "GOD SPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR," a documentary which received critical acclaim. His 1985 project "Himatsuri," was even screened at Cannes. Over the next several years, Yanagimachi made three more films. Following a ten-year break, "Who's Camus Anyway?," a 2005 production, will mark Yanagimachi's return to directing. Selected filmography:
